The 442nd Regimental Combat Team
This is the story of an American of Japanese Ancestry (AJA), who faced the adversity of ignorance and prejudice after the bombing of Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, and whose battlefield record helped gain the trust and respect of a nation.
This organization was founded by and is for veterans of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team.
The Veterans
After World War II, many veterans returned home to pursue the American dream, for which they had fought so hard. Each soldier’s contributions were incredibly meaningful, both to their families at home and to the Japanese American community across the nation. These veterans worked together to create a lasting legacy: the 442nd Veterans Club.
Legacy of the 442nd
Through many local businesses and community presence, the spirit of the 442nd lives on. As for its military representation, the 100th Battalion 442nd Infantry Reserve unit at Fort Shafter still carries on the spirit and legacy of the Nisei veterans.
Current Events
As of July 2025, the 442nd Veterans Clubhouse is undergoing renovations to transition to the 442nd Legacy Center. All inquiries can still be made through the 442nd Veterans Club.
“You fought not only the enemy, but you fought prejudice. And you won. You have made the Constitution stand for what it really means: the welfare of all the people, all the time.”
— President Harry S. Truman, July 15, 1946
